In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.
Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids.
Established in 1978, Casa de Amparo has been treating and preventing child abuse and neglect in San Diego County for over 30 years. Casa de Amparo is a vivid example of the difference a few can make in addressing a large and challenging need. Our founders were a small group of local women concerned about domestic violence and the welfare of children. Led by an official of the Women’s Resource Center, and supported by local police, this small team pushed for a crisis nursery for children affected by or at risk of child abuse…and Casa de Amparo was born.
North County Solutions for Change was founded in 1999 by social entrepreneurs Chris and Tammy Megison because they didn’t think it was right for babies to be sleeping on the floor of an emergency winter shelter. Prior to starting up Solutions for Change, the Megison’s developed and directed work and housing programs that helped thousands of homeless men get jobs, pay rent and earn their way back into society through an intense boot camp style program. Their most notable achievement was recognized as being the creators of one of North County’s most successful social purpose microenterprises, the North County Times Hawker program (those guys selling papers on the streets). Chris and Tammy built the program from the ground up and over its first seven years built it into one of the most successful newspaper street selling operations in the nation, expanding it to three other daily newspapers in 18 cities in San Diego, Orange County and LA.

It only took one time for the children of Haiti to capture the heart and soul of Naples, FL resident and humanitarian, JoAnne Kuehner. Wanting to make a difference through focusing on education, she put her trust and support into "people" who were already striving for success. Joining forces with Dr. Keith Hussey in 1997, the focus to make a difference expanded to nutrition and healthcare. Now nearly 20 years later, Hope For Haiti prides its long-term success of our mission on the foundation on which it was built. Hope For Haiti continues to believe in "people" and therefore partners with those in Haiti who are doing an excellent job and supporting them in furthering their work. We do not build and run our own schools. Rather than reinvent the wheel, we work directly with those who are successfully ministering to the poor and who will be there for the long term. In this way, we make sure that over 95 cents of every dollar donated is used for programs that can help create a better future for the children of Haiti. Hope For Haiti has held the vision from the very beginning that the people of Haiti are the ones who take control of their future and we are here to lend a needed hand along the difficult path.

The Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (2009 Typhoon Relief)
On August 7th, 2009, Typhoon Morakot slammed into Taiwan and caused severe damage to the property and human life. The destructive force of this typhoon on humans, properties, and environment far exceeded that of "921 Earthquake" ten years ago. And the area affected is much bigger than the earthquake. Many people lost their loved ones, homes, and livelihoods instantly. Many have gone without food, water and shelter for days. We feel their loss and suffering.
